SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The members of this committee are notable researchers, academics and professionals involved in fire protection that maintain close relations with TECNIFUEGO-AESPI.

All have outstanding experience in research and participation in prestigious international scientific publications. They are also noted for commitment in compliance with quality assurance standards in the sector.Their mission is to assist the coordinators in the selection of papers to be presented at the Congress. The committee’s job is to review the articles and the review comments.

The Scientific Committee is divided into active and passive, each having its own coordinator:

  • Active Coordinator: Mr Jesús de la Torre – ANBER GLOBE, S.A.
  • Passive Coordinator: Mr Vicente Mans - BUDENHEIM IBERICA, S.A

The Scientific Committee comprises:

  • epresentatives from organisations and public institutions whose collaboration shall be common to both areas: active and passive.
  • Specific collaboration by area:

    - Coordinators from the Tecnifuego-Aespi sectorial committees.
    - Representatives from national and international associations.

PRESENTATION OF PAPERS:
The evaluation of papers by the committee shall be performed with respect to technological innovation criteria, technical content, incidence or relevancies to the fire protection sector and newness with regard to application engineering.

The Scientific Committee has selected two ways of presenting papers: paper and poster.


  • Each proposed paper shall adapt to the presentation rules provided by the Scientific Committee.
  • The simultaneous translation languages provided during the congress are English and Spanish.
  • Participation in papers shall also include congress inscription and free gala dinner.
  • The Scientific Committee shall award diplomas for congress participation.

Participation rules:

The papers shall comply with the following requirements as general participation rules:
  • The selection shall be carried out based on the abstract proposed by the authors.
  • A maximum of three abstracts per author shall be sent to the Scientific Committee by Email.
  • Abstracts may be presented in either of the two languages contemplated by the congress: English or Spanish. If the title and abstract translations are not facilitated by the authors, these may be arranged by the Scientific Committee, who shall not be held responsible for any possible translation mistakes.
  • The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject any documentation that does not comply with the established requirements in either form or technical or scientific content.
  • Any references made for commercial purposes are strictly forbidden.
  • Authors shall sign their documents in recognition of ceding the copyrights of their papers over to SCI for subsequent use in the “Papers Book” and other acts of dissemination, but always with the authors’ permission.
  • All documents and papers that do not meet established deadlines or dates for presentation to the committee shall be automatically excluded.
  • All papers shall include the following information:

–Project title
–Name, academic title and author affiliation, together with that of the speaker.
– Contact information: full postal address, telephone and E-mail
–Brief Curriculum Vitae of the author(s)
–A maximum abstract of two DIN A4 pages or 2,000 characters

  • Abstracts shall be sent by E-mail in pdf format, Arial, font size 11, with 1.5 line-spacing.
Posters:

From among the received papers that are not selected for presentation during the congress, the Scientific Committee shall select those to be shown as posters based on obtained points.
Each poster shall have a space for display in a specific area of the exhibition site and shall be presented in accordance with the programme devised by the Congress Organisation.

The author, or one of them in the case of several, shall be physically present at the poster at times notified by the organisation.

The Scientific Committee shall award presentation certificates for the signatories of the papers.

The following requirements shall be met for poster presentation:


  • Posters shall have a size of 90 x 100 cm.
  • They may be presented in English or Spanish.
  • They shall contain the following information:

– Project title
– Name, academic title and author affiliation.
– Contact information: full postal address, telephone and E-mail.
– Brief Curriculum Vitae of the author(s)
– Full abstract, structured as follows:

– Introduction
– Methodology
– Results
– Conclusions

Selected papers:

  • The selected papers shall be sent in time and form in accordance with the rules facilitated with their acceptance.
  • Presentation shall be prepared in PowerPoint. The Tecnifuego-Aespi logo shall be included in all presentations.
  • Presentation languages shall be English and Spanish.
  • The duration of each paper shall be twenty minutes (twenty minutes of reading is the equivalent of approximately seven DIN A4 pages). Paper presentation time shall be strictly respected. Time shall be allowed at the end of each block for requests and questions.
  • Any references made for commercial purposes are strictly forbidden.

Publication format:

 
  • Final versions of the papers shall be published in the Congress “Papers Book”.
  • The documents shall not include page headers or footers.
  • Maximum length shall be eight pages, including figures and references.
  • Any illustrations for the documents shall be sent in a separate file.
  • Documents shall be correctly referenced by their authors, with precise information on posts and/or degrees and diplomas .

TECNIFUEGO-AESPI ORGANIZES THE INTERNATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION CONGRESS, SCI 2009, JUNE 10-12th, 2009

The International Fire Protection Congress SCI 2009, organized by the Spanish Association of Fire Protection, TECNIFUEGO-AESPI, that will be held next June 10, 11 and 12 at the “Feria de Madrid” in Spain, will offer the latest International innovations related to the Fire Protection, moreover it will present the new technologies and open debate about the Fire Protection legislation, problems and future aims giving the latest solutions and keys to have an equal growth respectful to the quality, environment and, definitely, to the International and Spanish Fire Protection legislative.
The challenge of this new SCI edition is to contribute the latest and newest solutions about the Fire Protection at any kind of buildings, including skyscrapers and specific buildings.
SCI2009 is a very important meeting point for all the Fire Protection professionals and specialists because they could assist in parallel to meeting zones, posters or papers graphic presentations that will include some innovation about the application, technology, etc. Furthermore, it will present a commercial exhibition of companies, products and services.
During two days, the principal items about the Fire protection sector will be analyzed:

During the SCI 2009 Scientific Committee constitution meeting, the Scientific Program Coordinators were announced. For the Active Protection, this charge is developed by Mr. Jesús de la Torre and for the Passive Protection, the Coordinator is Mr. Vicente Mans.
